Ontario Family Fishing Weekend
Once a year Canadian residents can enjoy the fun of fishing in Ontario without a licence during the annual Ontario Family Fishing Weekend.
The Family Fishing Weekend Derby takes place each year at several conservation areas around Ontario July 7th to 9th.This activity is directed toward all kids 9-13 with little or no fishing experience and gives them a chance to fish with experienced anglers.
On July 8th, 2006, Nelson Aggregate Co. was a proud to sponsor the fishing derby on Merritt Island in Welland, Ontario, that was hosted by the City of Welland, Land Care Niagara, Welland River Keepers, & the Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority.
A great day was had by all, including several Nelson Aggregate Co. employees and their children, who did their best to land the big one.During this event, the young fishermen were asked to participate in a catch, tag and release program.
More than 150 people registered for the event and more than 50 fish were tagged.
