Three of Nelson's properties earned Safety Awards for working without a loss-time incident. Operations, Health & Safety and environment Seminar (Posted April,2007)
ONTARIO STONE, SAND & GRAVEL ASSOCIATION’S: OPERATIONS, HEALTH & SAFETY and ENVIRONMENT SEMINAR
As part of Nelson Aggregate Co.’s endeavors to increase the safety and operational knowledge base of our employees, members of the Nelson team attended the OSSGA Health, Safety & Operations Seminar in Toronto on January 10 and 11, 2007.
This year’s seminar focused on topics including the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources presenting their thoughts on the industry’s rehabilitation efforts, noise mitigation, different production processes presented to help improve safety, productivity and quality within industry operations, as well as updates on planning and reporting.
As in every year, OSSGA recognized industry achievement in safety at the annual Safety Awards Lunch. Nelson is very proud to announce that three of their properties earned awards for working without a loss-time incident. Congratulations go out to the employees of Nelson Aggregate – Lincoln Quarry for three years incident free, Nelson Aggregate – Uhthoff Quarry for five years incident free, and last but not least, Waynco Sand & Gravel for operating for sixteen years incident free. The management and staff should be proud of these
accomplishments.
One of the biggest highlights of the event was keynote speaker Darryl Sittler. Mr. Sittler was an engaging speaker who kept every ear in the place on him, Maple Leaf fan or not. He spoke of personal sacrifices and the determination that it took for him to reach his ultimate goal of reaching the NHL. After his speaking engagement was over, Mr. Sittler took time to autograph pictures and allowed fans to have their picture taken with him.
