Nelson Aggregate Second Annual Community Clean-up Day
Nelson employees pitch in to help spruce-up the Mount Nemo neighbourhood.
As part of Burlington Mayor and Council’s Community Clean-up, Nelson employees and their families pitched in once again to help pickup refuse along Colling Road and No. 2 Sideroad on Saturday, April 26th.
This year the 30 person team collected over 570 kg of garbage and recyclables from the roadside. When the sun came out it became thirsty work so we were grateful to neighbours who brought out water bottles and pop to the cleanup teams working near their homes.
We also want to give special thanks to Benson Tire who brought their barbeque trailer to the quarry and served up hot dogs and hamburgers to the hungry workers.
Compared to last year’s collection of 2,450 kg of garbage, the team hopes that the reduced amount for 2008 is a sign that people are people are being less careless about throwing their garbage around. Happy Earth Day!!!
