Regional Chair's 2008 Youth Awards for Environmental Excellence
On April 25, 2008 at the Burlington Convention Center, Nelson Aggregate Co. was pleased to sponsor the 2008 Youth Award for Environmental Excellence awarded to Oakville’s Pine Grove Public School’s Environment Club, given out at the Regional Chair’s Breakfast on the Environment. Pine Grove Public School’s "Équipe Vert" (Green Team) led the implementation of the Waste Free Lunch program, held on Wednesdays. The club promoted the initiative with posters, announcements and in the newsletter, and helped students learn how to make waste-free lunches. The program has reduced garbage by 64% on Wednesdays and helped other students learn about the environment. Staff and students were well entertained and informed by this year’s special guest speaker, Justin Trudeau. Congratulations to all those involved.
