Nelson Aggregate Welcomed Nature Conservancy of Canada Volunteers to its Waynco Site
Burlington – October 2009
Nelson Aggregate and its Waynco Sand and Gravel operation have been working with the Nature Conservancy and MNR on the preservation of Tall Grass Prairie on their Waynco property for some time now (see What’s New story of June 2009). We were pleased to be able to participate in the fall seed collection efforts undertaken by NCC volunteers in September 2009.
The seeds collected at this year's event will be planted in upcoming seasons to enhance and create tallgrass prairie habitat in areas protected by NCC on the Savannah Golf Links golf course. The effort and enthusiasm of the volunteers in spite of the pouring rain, helped make the event a great success.
Nelson Aggregate commends the Nature Conservancy of Canada for its ongoing conservation efforts.
