We are excited to announce that Nelson / Waynco has formed a team to participate in the 2022 Paris to Ancaster Bike Ride: A Ride for Research in support of St. Joseph’s Healthcare Foundation.
This is a great opportunity for us to get outdoors for a mental health boost and some physical activity while supporting a great cause!
The event takes place on Sunday, April 24th, so there is still time to get your bike out of winter storage and get some riding in before the big day.
There are three distance options – 20km, 45km or 70km (this distance starts at Waynco Aggregates-Myers Pit).
If riding isn’t your thing, feel free to support by donating directly to our team page or sharing the message with others. All funds raised through the ‘Paris to Ancaster’ event support lifesaving research at St. Joe’s hospital in Hamilton. Their research has both a local and global reach. Hydrogeologist Uses Drone-Generated Maps and Models as Water Management Tool at Ontario Quarry
In the aggregate industry, water management and extraction from below the water table go hand in hand. If it isn’t managed well, surface water and groundwater can collect in the quarry and affect day to day operations. The aggregate industry usually relies on time-consuming ground surveys to gather the elevation data needed to make water-management decisions. Drone maps improve the development of the water management plans for quarries. By using drones to survey an Ontario aggregate quarry, Tecia White of Whitewater Hydrogeology Ltd. not only improved jobsite safety and gathered a richer set of data, but she did it all twenty times faster than a traditional ground survey.
